Never thought of going this far with this

Hello there. If you didn’t know it by now, I started out this business out of necessity, because I was actually tired of doing food delivery. Yes, food delivery was something that I had to do to support my family, and I was getting tired of the working one whole day and just getting back a hundred bucks. Back then, I knew that I needed to find a better part-time job, so I applied to A LOT of part-time, temp, or seasonal gigs. I even worked at a Baby Fair once as a promoter right before I started to do photography, but it was again something that didn’t pay much ($10 per hour). I really didn’t mind the hard work, but the hard work needed to make sense. I couldn’t just break my back and not let the hard work ripple through my later years. So it was then, that I decided to pick up my camera again.

It was a Tuesday night when I started designing my own website, portfolio and business card. This website went online 4 days later, because I didn’t want to give myself another excuse to not start a business. It felt rushed, but it was the push I needed. And then once my website with my old photography portfolio was out, my wife and I started to dm as many people as we could, hoping to find new clients, and back then I didn’t mind doing work for free for as long as I get to take new pictures for my dusted portfolio, but I settled with charging at $50/hr instead. I mean, it’s not like I was really starting out photography from scratch, right?

I'm lucky that I’ve got such a supportive partner and wife that helped me with the administration part of the job, because she was much much better at it than me.

Fast forward, I’ve had some regular clients for F&B, events and fashion, and I couldn’t have done it without the trust that everyone gave me. Sure, I do realise my work does need improvement from time to time, and having clients that didn’t mind the imperfections and still trusted my work was an even better feeling than getting the bucks. I do genuinely appreciate the trust that people businesses gave me on my way up (or middle, because I’m not on top yet), and because of that, I always try to give 200% in my work for them. Now, after 7 months of hustling every single night, I’ve finally met up with the founder of Huda Berkat to discuss future collaborations. I personally know the founder since college days and he’s one of the most trustworthy people I know, so it’s really a pleasure to be on board with him. Hopefully, this union will be a union of friendship. Do check out their website.

It’s late now and I’ve work tomorrow.
